Iran’s Armed Forces have completed a comprehensive, updated plan ready for immediate implementation in response to any military aggression, a senior regional political and security official told Lebanon-based Al Mayadeen on October 30.

The official stated that the decision to launch a “comprehensive and very wide-ranging response” is firm. “Tehran is confident that its enemies and their regional backers will be more shocked than ever by the scale and intensity of Iran’s response,” the official said, according to the report.

Should the aggressor carry out what Iran terms “terrorist acts,” the list of “legitimate targets” would be at least as extensive and could expand further. Any immediate response would include political facilities, centres, and headquarters of the adversary and its regional supporters. The official warned countries against allowing their territory to be used against Iran, invoking the proverb that those in glass houses should not throw stones.

The same remarks were published by the IRGC-affiliated Tasnim news agency. The statements occur against a backdrop of prolonged U.S.-Iran tensions, previous rounds of strikes, Iranian threats of broader regional targeting (including infrastructure), and diplomatic efforts involving mediators that Iranian analysts have described as limited in substance. U.S. officials have indicated possible renewed military options after the November 3 midterm elections, while both sides continue to exchange warnings. Independent verification of the plan’s details remains unavailable, as is typical with such official claims.
